The definition of the edge shape specifies whether two points are connected by a straight or a curved line. In addition the curve can also be defined as being closed  which means that a smooth join is produced between the start and end points of the curve.

Depending upon the input mode the contour has either one or two edges so producing several different combinations of types of edges.

Input mode outer contour:

Form straight

Form curved

+ Form closed curve

Input mode pairwise or center line

Form straight

Form curved

+ Form closed curve on both sides

Input mode pairwise

oder Form one side straight - one side curved

It is also possible to define here open/closed curves, this example shows closed curves.
