If you press this button, the parameter you have eventually changed are adopted to the curve, so the curve is recalculated. You can get the same effect, if you click with the vectorize wand in the desired area again. But you have got to be aware that the curve is calculated differently if you have a dithered area and click to a point with an different colour.
