This parameter defines the connection between the letters of TrueType

fonts. You can select between optimized, i.e. the closest point connection,

optimized straight, the shortest horizontal connection line, ascend

baseline  and the different heights measured in percent of the stitch

length.

Original means a connection between the endpoint of the first with the

startpoint of the next letter without optimization.

Automatically is a combination of the connections types optimized straight and original. As long as the distance between the letters is so small, that there will be no trimming, the optimized straight connection is calculated. When the gap becomes wider and the thread has to be cut, lock stitches will be calculated at the original endpoint of the letter and tack stitches at the original start point of the next letter. You can define the start- and endpoints of the characters  in the font managerDQ5MB4. The sense of this connection type is to place the tack- and lockstitches at an inconspicuous place to hide them as good as possible.

If the connections have moved because of moving the letters or positioning

on curves, you can recalculate them by clicking on the button connection

and stitch calculation11F5X1F .
